Before you take a peak.....

You need to be aware this is our old blog. Dave (the blogger) started blogging when, as a family, we went to India for 3.5 months from April - August 2008. This blog is the story of our time there. You'll find lots about our story by going to the 'archives' section of the blog to the left below.

Another 'normal' day in Bangalore....

Today was another one of those 'normal' India days in Bangalore!! Spent the morning in hospital with my son and the afternoon in a cash and carry warehouse!! Bonkers place!!

Seriously, many thanks to those of you that have taken a real interest in how Josh is doing.... For those that don't know we went to hospital today as Josh has had the squits (sorry but I can never spell the other word!) since we came here - give or take a day or two. Raj took us off to the Columbia Asia hospital (do check out their website - another amazing company here from Malaysia) where Josh was seen immediately by a great paediatrician who trained in Glasgow and Ireland (!).

Josh quite enjoyed getting his own ID card (see pic) and has had some small tests and we find out results tomorrow. The doc doesn't think it's a big problem - just a small stomach infection. We were in and out in half hour in the plushest hospital I have ever been in in my life (see pic). Challenge your view of India again does it?

After this we dropped Josh back home and Raj and I and 2 others went off to a massive Macro type superstore to but office furniture for the Fishermen Trust office. Not much fun but essential.

I can understand that this all seems a million miles away from working in the slums etc but the plan is to get the office up and running and use this as a base for the work and for the community. We met with the landlords just tonight (good friends of Raj's) and they are keen to have the place as a drop in for the community so things are starting to happen with a base like this. Nandu and Raj will be based there and this will start to work as a drop in centre.

It really feels like foundations are being set for the Trust in a way that I have not experienced here before.

We have our very first Fishermen Trust staff meeting tommorrow.....!!
