Before you take a peak.....

You need to be aware this is our old blog. Dave (the blogger) started blogging when, as a family, we went to India for 3.5 months from April - August 2008. This blog is the story of our time there. You'll find lots about our story by going to the 'archives' section of the blog to the left below.

Another random day: The coconut tree 'fella' & camels?!

Another random day started this morning with the kids coming to see us at about 8.30am asking 'can we go and see the coconut man with Jan' (the girl that lives downstairs). After further inquiries we found out that a guy comes every now and then to fell the coconuts from the tree just across the road from us....hence 'the coconut tree fella' - pictured on left!! We said yes and gave Josh the camera and the result of their expedition is in the pics here. If you click them you can see better. They brought a tender coconut back with the top off (to get the coconut milk out) and then you give it back to the guy who chops it up and you use the hard skin to scrape out the coconut inside.

Then, a couple of hours later, the dog over the road was going absolutely mad. Now he is mad 99% of the time and barks all day and night but there was something about his lunacy this time that caught our attention. We sent the kids to the window (!) and they shouted back 'there are 2 camels walking down our street!!'. Now we have had cows and herds of goats (are they in herds or is that cows??) coming down our road but NEVER camels!!

We shot up and sure enough there were 2 camels walking right past our house!! They were all dressed up and ready to give kids rides etc. Here they are:
