Sarah and I had a babysitter come at 7pm and then got picked up by a driver and taken to The Leela Palace. Just check out their website here. It was really the most extraordinary place Sarah or I have ever been to. 7 star hotel and Raj had given the driver a voucher for a meal at the restaurant for us both -and then had a cake brought to us by the waiters with 'Happy Anniversary' on. How incredibly kind of Raj to do this for us......
Pics of the palace below. It is an actual palace of old - owned by the Government but run by a private company. I have never seen a hotel like it in my life.
We had a great meal - Mexican - and some great deserts and then chilled with a coffee in the room bottom left in the pics!! By the way the middle right picture is a bedroom!!!
Whilst there is no taking away from how utterly incredible this place was and what a great anniversary treat it was for us to go to the Leela Palace, as we got in our car and drove down the drive and out of the golden gates I looked out the windows of the car and there they still were: the slums, the beggars and real life India.
I am left feeling full up and happy from a great evening but wondering how that can be a world that we lived in tonight and yet one that others I see here will never ever see....? How can these two worlds can co-exist as they do.....?? This country baffles me at times....
